TALL SHIPS VISIT ASTORIA AND RAINIER THIS WEEK

The brig Lady Washington, the Official Ship of Washington State, and the topsail ketch Hawaiian Chieftain, begin a seven-week tour of Columbia River ports this week with stops at the Oregon ports of Astoria and Rainier. The ships will be in Astoria Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. The ships will stop overnight in Cathlamet, Wash., before sailing for Rainier. Stops the week of May 19 include St. Helens, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash.


Here is the schedule of public availability through May 27:
May 15 (Astoria): Tours: 4-5 p.m.; Evening Sail: 6-8 p.m.
May 18 (Rainier): Tours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Battle Sail: 2-5 p.m.; Evening Sail: 6-8 p.m.
May 19 (Rainier): Tours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Adventure Sail: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Battle Sail: 2-5 p.m.
May 21 (St. Helens): Tours: 4-5 p.m.; Evening Sail: 6-8 p.m.
May 23 (Vancouver): Tours: 4-5 p.m.
May 24 (Vancouver): Tours: 4-5 p.m.; Evening Sail: 6-8 p.m.
May 25 (Vancouver): Tours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Battle Sail: 2-5 p.m.; Evening Sail: 6-8 p.m.
May 26 (Vancouver): Tours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Adventure Sail: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Battle Sail: 2-5 p.m.
May 27 (Vancouver): 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Battle Sail: 2-5 p.m.; Evening Sail: 6-8 p.m.

Hawaiian Chieftain is an interpretation of a typical early 19th century coastal trader. Launched in 1988, she specializes in hands-on living history education programs for young people.
