Coast Guard announces public comment period, meetings regarding Columbia River Crossing project

The U.S. Coast Guard announced, Tuesday a 45-day public comment period extending until June 20, 2013, and two public meetings seeking input from the public regarding impacts to navigation as a result of the proposed project that includes construction of a new fixed bridge across the Columbia River between Vancouver, Wash., and Portland, Ore., that will replace the existing I-5 Bridge.
The notice of public meetings and request for comments can be found at www.regulations.gov, docket number USCG-2013-0286 or by visiting the Coast Guard Navigation Center’s website at http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=pnBridges&Active=1&region=13.   
The public meetings are scheduled for June 4, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel on the River, 909 N Hayden Island Drive Portland, Ore.; and June 5, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hilton Vancouver, 301 West 6th St, Vancouver, Wash. If you wish to request an oral or sign language interpreter, we must receive your request on or before May 26, 2013.
Interested parties are requested to express their views, in writing, on the proposed bridge project including its possible impacts to navigation. Members of the public may submit comments identified by docket number USCG-2013-0286 using one of the following methods:
1.      Federal eRulemaking Portal: http://www.regulations.gov.
2.      Fax: 202-493-2251.
3.      Mail or Hand Delivery:  Docket Management Facility (M-30), U.S. Department of Transportation, West Building Ground Floor, Room W12–140, 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE., Washington, DC 20590–0001.
To avoid duplication, please use only one of these three methods. Individuals submitting comments should include their name and mailing address, an email address and/or a telephone number.
