City of Astoria 11th St CSO Separation project update

The contractor, Tapani, will not work on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27th), so construction will be Tuesday through Friday (May 28-31).

On 8th St, the new waterline that has been installed from Commercial to Franklin is expected to be put into service. Also next week, Century Link will be working on removing/relocating a telephone vault at the intersection of 8th St and Exchange to allow installation of the new sewer and storm pipe.

Tapani is expected to finish the final stretch of storm pipe installation from Jerome to Kensington on 10th St next week. Concrete installation of curbs and intersection corner ramps is expected to be done over the next couple weeks on 10th St.

Preparations for the pipe bursting and slip-lining on 9th Street from Marine Drive north to the Columbia River have begun with the primary effort scheduled for next week. On Tuesday or Wednesday, an entry pit will be dug on the south side of Marine Drive on 9th Street. During this construction, it will be necessary to close one lane of traffic on Marine Drive at 9th Street and close 9th Street entirely from Commercial St to Duane St, which is expected to take 4 to 7 days. The actual pipe bursting operation is expected to take 4-6 hours and is currently scheduled for Thursday, May 30th. During the pipe bursting process, Commercial Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic from 7th Street to 10th Street.
