GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATORS IN NORTHWEST CORNER OF OREGON

The G.A.P.S. Foundation (Generating Assistance for Public Schools), is offering its sixth annual grant program this fall to public school staff working with special needs and at-risk populations for projects and supplies that are beyond normal operating budgets.

Deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12, at www.gapsfoundation.org/grants.

A total $40,000 will be awarded for projects that directly impact young children and students in the following areas: Early Intervention/Early Childhood Education, Special Needs and Underprivileged Youth (Examples: Low-Incidence, Developmentally Delayed, At-Risk, Alternative and Behavioral Programs and Migrant and Indian Ed Programs), Northwest Outdoor Science School, and Professional/Technical and Vocational Programs.

Public schools educators in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, and Washington counties are eligible to apply for grants in amounts between $100 and $2,500. Since 2006, G.A.P.S. has awarded $185,257, impacting 27,547 children and students.
