Public open house scheduled to review plan for U.S. 101 south of Warrenton

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is holding an open house for the public to review and comment on a plan to improve safety and traffic flow on U.S. 101 from Camp Rilea to Surf Pines Lane, south of Warrenton. The public open house will be held on Thursday, November 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Camp Rilea (33168 Patriot Way) in the Log Cabin Room.
This 4.6 mile section of U.S. 101 is primarily two lanes, has above average crash rates, and can become congested by frequent turning movements.
The meeting will focus around the final draft of the Facility Plan, which establishes ODOT’s 20-year vision for the corridor and identifies several projects to improve this section of highway. The plan is based on input received from the Stakeholder Advisory Committee, two public meetings, and technical analysis. The list of recommended projects reflects efforts to balance the established project goals with funding limitations.
Future projects, dependent on funding availability, could include options for northbound Sunset Beach traffic by providing a turnaround location further south..
For more information, to view the draft plan, or to provide comment, please visit the website: www.us101rileatosurfpines.org. ODOT encourages the public to provide feedback at the open house, through the website or by mail. Please submit comments by December 3 so they can be considered as the Facility Plan is finalized in 2013.
