According to Leah Rodgers from Friends of Family Farmers in Molalla, Oregon, the
Oregon Department of Agriculture intends to file today (Friday, August 10) for
a temporary rule that will allow for
canola, including genetically engineered canola, into the previously designated
protection zone surrounding the Willamette
Valley.
Rogers
has created on online petition to Katy Coba, Director of the Oregon Department
of Agriculture, and Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber, which urges the ODA to halt
the temporary rule-making process.
