‘COVER OREGON’ HEALTH INSURANCE EXCHANGE HOSTS MEETINGS JAN. 24

Cover Oregon will host two community meetings in Clatsop County in January. Residents will have the opportunity to learn about the development of Oregon’s health insurance exchange and provide input on its progress.
Both meetings are Thursday, Jan. 24 at:
·   10 a.m.-noon – Providence Seaside Hospital, 725 S. Wahanna Rd., Seaside
·   5:30-7:30 p.m. – Judge Guy Boyington Building, 857 Commercial St., Astoria

Cover Oregon’s mission is to improve the health of all Oregonians by providing health coverage options, increasing access to information, and fostering quality and value in the health care system. Cover Oregon – a component of the 2010 federal Affordable Care Act – will offer individuals, families and small employers a new way to shop and apply for health coverage starting Oct. 1, 2013. Oregonians will be able to search by price, carrier or services offered on one website. Cover Oregon will be the only place Oregonians can compare health coverage options from various carriers apples-to-apples and access financial assistance to help pay for coverage.
“We look forward to meeting the North Coast communities to provide information about the changes coming in health insurance and to find out what we can do to make Cover Oregon work best for their needs,” said Liz Baxter, chair of the Cover Oregon Board of Directors.
Enrollment in Cover Oregon is scheduled to begin Oct. 1, and coverage starts Jan. 1, 2014. Initially Cover Oregon will be available to those who buy individual coverage and employers with fewer than 50 employees, but it will expand to employers with up to 100 employees in 2016.
