Unusually
dry, windy conditions have triggered several wildfires in western Oregon. In the
Astoria District between Arch Capes and Manzanita, the 50-acre Falcon Fire is
burning, and nearby the 30-acre Shingle Mill Fire. Oregon Dept. of Forestry and
partner fire agencies are fighting both blazes.
A Temporary Flight
Restriction is in place to prevent conflict with ODF aircraft fighting the
fires.
In the North Cascade District, five fires are burning. The 1, 2 3
Complex consists of three fires, the largest approx. 200 acres, a second fire
about 10 acres in size and a third less than one acre. The two larger blazes are
uncontained. ODF and landowner partners are fighting those fires. Cause is under
investigation. Two new fires, have been reported in the district, near the town
of Gates. No additional information is available at this time.
In SW
Oregon, the 125-acre Alder Creek Fire is burning 16 miles north of Shady Cove.
ODF, the U.S. Forest Service and private forest landowners are fighting that
blaze.
In the Coos Bay area, three wildfires are burning. Two fires
totaling about 300 acres are on the site of the Bone Creek Complex, which burned
in early January. A third fire, the Weaver Ridge Fire, is about 20 acres.
