Astoria Police Respond to Reported Knife Fight

On 02/28/2013 at about 10:02 PM Astoria 911 received a report of a fight at the Desdemona. It was reported that one of the subjects involved had a knife. Officers responded to the area, and when they arrived they saw Dennis Bisbee, age 26, was holding a knife is his hand engaging a person at the bar.
While Ofc. Riley was giving Bisbee verbal commands from the front door of the bar, Ofc. Randall walked in the rear door, unbeknownst to Bisbee, and grabbed the knife out of his hand. Ofc. Randall then detained Bisbee in handcuffs.

After talking with witnesses, it was determined Bisbee approached another male in the bar with a knife and began arguing with the male about an incident that occurred several months earlier.
At some point in the argument, another patron attempted to grab the knife from Bisbee’s hand, and received a minor cut. That person declined to pursue charges against Bisbee.
Bisbee was taken to jail where he was lodged on the following charges: Unlawful Use of a Weapon (C Felony), Menacing (A Misdemeanor), and Disorderly Conduct II (B Misdemeanor).
