Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Clatsop County
medical examiner, is continuing the investigation into the death of an adult
female found early Tuesday morning in a vehicle along Highway 101 in the Cannon
Beach area. There is no evidence at this time that the woman's death is related
to a crime.
On Monday evening, July 2, 2012, information was received by Clackamas
County Sheriff's Office after a concerned friend read a Facebook posting by the
33-year old Portland-area woman. An initial investigation by Clackamas County
Sheriff's Office noted the woman's cellphone was being used along the north
Oregon coast on Highway 101 in Clatsop County.
After the information was forwarded to area law enforcement agencies, on
July 3 at approximately 12:45 a.m. a Cannon Beach police officer found the
woman's 2009 Ford Edge parked in a pullout along Highway 101 near milepost 28.
The deceased woman was inside the vehicle and there was no obvious sign of
injury.
OSP is continuing the investigation. The woman's name is not being released
at this time.
