Clatsop Community College Fire Engine Makes its Debut

The Clatsop Community College Fire Science Program has acquired its own fire engine for training purposes. The engine was displayed with its new number, lettering, colors and logo on Wednesday at the high school job fair at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds. The engine’s new graphics were designed and applied by Jeff Miller of Red Dwarf Graphics in Astoria. The engine was donated to the college by the Pacific County Fire District #1.

Clatsop Community College’s Fire Science program includes a less-than-one-year Career Pathway Certificate in Fire Science and a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science. In addition, the program offers hands-on training for local structural and industrial fire departments and specialized training in US Coast Guard approved Basic and Advanced Maritime Firefighting. Opportunities exist for high school students developing an interest in Fire Science and veteran firefighters.

Additional training enhancements to the fire engine will result from a special appeal conducted at the CCC Foundation’s Arts & Experience Dinner and Auction on April 18. For information, contact 503-338-2306.
