Cool, crisp fall days entice
local landowners to clean up outside in preparation for winter. Clean up
usually includes burning yard debris and logging slash. The local Oregon
Department of Forestry office is reminding citizens to not burn during periods
of east winds. The local weather forecast predicts an east
wind event throughout this week. East winds prevent smoke
dispersing away from the ground level, causing smoky conditions for
neighborhoods and local roadways. Once typical wet weather patterns
return, residents can resume burning with little risk to neighbors and adjacent
forestlands.
Clatsop County residents can call the Oregon Department of Forestry
at 503-325-5451 for more information.
