HAMMOND APARTMENT DWELLERS DISPLACED BY FIRE

A Warrenton firefighter was injured Sunday while fighting a fire that broke out just after 6 p.m. yesterday at the Columbia Point Apartments at 500 Pacific Drive in Hammond. In the two alarm fire, six units in the complex were gutted. They also sustained water damage. The firefighter received neck and back injuries after a chunk of ceiling collapsed on him. The firefighter was treated at a local hospital.
The apartment’s residents escaped without injuries. Red Cross volunteers from the Oregon Trail Chapter assisted 11 people displaced by the fire. The owner of the building is putting most of them up at the local Shilo Inn. Investigators will be back on the scene today (Monday) to determine the cause of the fire. :38
